Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

4 provisions identified: 0 benefits, 2 costs, 2 mixed.

New in-state office rules for hearing aid dispensers

Licensed hearing aid dispensers must keep a permanent business location in Montana. Each location must name one licensed, non‑trainee dispenser in charge. That person must keep control of the business records and give them to the department on request. The in‑charge dispenser must tell the department in writing within 30 days if the business address changes.

New rules for veterinary dispensing technicians

Veterinary dispensing technicians must register each year with the Board of Veterinary Medicine. They must wear a name badge in the facility and the facility must display the technician’s current license. Technicians must tell the board within 15 days if their address or place of employment changes. The board may set rules to run these requirements.

Standard service and contact rules for licensees

The law standardizes how the department and boards contact you about your license. You must give your current physical address and tell the department and board within 30 days if it changes. If you consent to email service, you must also give and update your email within 30 days. Agencies serve notices by email (with consent), by certified mail to your address on file, or by personal service, and they may recover the fees for personal service. You can request a hearing in writing, and the department must receive it within 21 days after you get the notice.

No local license fees for dentists, hygienists

Local governments cannot charge dentists or dental hygienists a local license fee. Dentists and hygienists licensed under chapter 37-4 must tell the board within 10 days if their name, address, or status changes. This removes a local cost but keeps a short reporting duty.
