Clear county election administrator rules

The county clerk and recorder is the default election administrator. The county governing body can name another official or appoint a separate administrator. An appointed administrator reports directly to the governing body. The election administrator runs voter registration and all election procedures, keeps county election records, and is the county’s main contact for the statewide voter list and federal election rules. The administrator may appoint a deputy for each local area that must hold elections. The law takes effect on passage and approval.
