Higher fire fees for forest landowners

Beginning July 1, 2025, the maximum annual DNRC fire protection fee is $58.70 per landowner, up from $50.00. If you own more than 20 acres, you also pay $0.49 per acre each year for the acres above 20, up from $0.30. This applies to land classified as forest land in a wildland fire protection district or under a fire protection contract with a recognized agency. No other charges apply unless you are proven negligent or violate state fire law.
