Montana Supreme Court cannot pick recent donors as chair

Within 20 days, the four appointed commissioners must pick a fifth member to serve as presiding officer. If they do not, the Montana Supreme Court makes the pick. The Court cannot choose anyone who gave a campaign contribution in the past 10 years to a major-party candidate for state or federal office. This limits who can serve as the commission’s presiding officer when the Court is selecting.
