Automatic return of small unclaimed property

The Department of Revenue can now send you unclaimed property worth up to $1,000 without a claim. This applies only if you are listed as the apparent owner and your identity and address are verified. The agency keeps proof of ownership, ID, and proof it returned the property. For other claims, the administrator decides within 90 days and pays within 30 days if allowed, including any interest or dividends. The law takes effect immediately.
