No campaigning or gifts at polls

The law bans electioneering on election day inside a polling place, inside the building where ballots are issued or cast, and within 100 feet of any entrance while the site is open. Candidates, their family, and campaign workers cannot give alcohol, tobacco, food, drink, or anything of value to voters in those areas. No one may wear, display, buy, sell, or hand out campaign badges, buttons, or insignia at or near the polls. No one may ask voters inside how they plan to vote or how they voted, before or after they mark and return a ballot. These rules take effect July 1, 2025.

State must notify tribal governments

The Secretary of State must send a copy of this law to each federally recognized tribal government in Montana. This notice requirement starts July 1, 2025.
