Stronger protections for prepaid funeral funds

Funeral providers must put your prepaid money into a protected account within 10 business days. The money must go into a bank, savings and loan, or credit union that has an office in Montana and is organized under state or U.S. law. Deposits must be federally insured and handled under the state's prudent investor rule, which cannot be waived. The funds are a trust for you and must be kept in a separate account titled in the depositor's name as trustee for you.
