Police must leave warrant; evidence still usable

Officers serving a search warrant must show the original or a duplicate at the place, to the person, or to a known lawful occupant. If they take property, the officer must give you a copy of the warrant and a receipt or leave them at the premises. Not leaving the copy and receipt does not, by itself, keep the seized items out of your trial. The law takes effect immediately upon passage and approval.
