China Grove now holds town elections in even-numbered years during the general election. There are no town elections in 2025. The three aldermen whose terms end in 2025, and the two aldermen and the mayor whose terms end in 2027, each get one extra year. Aldermen keep staggered four-year terms, and the mayor serves a four-year term.
Faith now holds town elections in even-numbered years during the general election. There are no town elections in 2025, and current aldermen serve one extra year. Starting in 2026 and every four years after, voters elect five aldermen to four-year terms. Those aldermen choose one of themselves to be mayor, so voters do not elect the mayor directly.
In Madison, the mayor now serves a four-year term, not two. Voters choose a mayor less often. This applies to elections held on or after the law’s effective date.
