The law exempts student‑athlete name, image, and likeness (NIL) contracts from public records. Colleges and universities cannot release records that reveal a student’s NIL contract. This applies to past and current records in their files. The rule takes effect June 25, 2025.
The law requires all public school units to check total cost of ownership, repair costs, flexibility, and expected resale value when buying technology. Starting with the 2025–2026 school year, local boards, trustees, charter schools, directors, and covered chancellors must adopt these policies. Each governing body must file a yearly report by August 15 with the prior year’s break/fix rate, devices in use, devices repaired or retired, and money spent on repairs or replacements. The first local report is due August 15, 2026 for 2025–2026 data. The State Board issues a statewide summary and recommendations by November 15 each year, starting November 15, 2026.
