Beginning October 1, 2025, counties set up local adult protection case review teams. These teams review selected active cases for disabled adults (18+ or emancipated with incapacity) and older adults (65+) who get help from adult protective services through the county social services office. Teams let agencies share information and coordinate to stop abuse, neglect, or exploitation. County boards choose single‑county or multicounty teams with the social services director, and a county may later withdraw with written notice.
Beginning October 1, 2025, each team must include the social services director and a staff designee, law enforcement, a district attorney’s attorney, the public guardian, a mental health professional, the long‑term care ombudsman, the public health director or designee, a local health care provider, an area agency on aging representative, and a victim advocate. The chair can add up to five extra members, like banks, hospitals, or nonprofits. Vacancies are filled by the original appointing authority. Each team elects a chair, who must finish state training within three months. Teams meet at least once a quarter; the social services director calls the first meeting, then the chair sets the schedule and agenda with the director. Meetings can proceed even if some seats are vacant.
