Court must approve mediation agreements

After the parties sign a mediation agreement in North Dakota, the mediator must present it to the court. The agreement does not bind anyone until a judge approves it by order. The mediator must also tell the court whether the parties reached an agreement.

Your rights before signing in mediation

In North Dakota mediations, the mediator must tell you that a lawyer can review the agreement before you sign. A mediator may write a short summary of the agreement, but does not have to. The court cannot see a mediator’s summary unless all parties sign it.
