Clear rules for municipal bond elections

The law requires your city or town to put an initial bond resolution on the ballot for voter approval. They must do this after they adopt the resolution, or at the first meeting after a qualifying petition is filed. The election must be at least 64 days after the resolution passes or the petition is filed. The governing body sets the date, polling hours, and polling place, which must match the regular municipal polling place and be within the municipality. Each polling place must have an inspector, two judges, and two clerks. If any election official is absent when polls open, the remaining officials must appoint a qualified voter to fill the spot. The election is run and the votes are counted and canvassed the same way as elections for members of the municipal governing body.
