Analyzed Economic Effects

2 provisions identified: 0 benefits, 1 costs, 1 mixed.

Limits on prizes for local gaming

Permitted organizations can award a top (primary) prize of no more than $15,000, counting closely related groups together. Total prizes from all games may not exceed $50,000 each calendar year. These limits do not apply to raffles held under chapter 20.1-08.

Local control of gaming permits and games

A city or county may give a local permit only for raffles, bingo, or sports pools. A restricted event permit can allow raffles, bingo, sports pools, paddlewheels, twenty-one (21), and poker. The local government alone decides which groups are “public‑spirited” and can get a local permit. Groups must state on the application how they will use the net income from the games. Permits can list the exact times and places for the games.
