Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

3 provisions identified: 0 benefits, 3 costs, 0 mixed.

Higher fees and more moving violations

The law sets a $20 base fee for moving violations. It lists many offenses with higher set fees: $25, $30, $40, $50, $100, $150 for a first offense and $300 for a repeat under one section, $250, and $500. It also spells out which offenses count as moving violations and which are excluded. That wider list means more tickets are treated as moving violations and charged under this schedule. The printed first‑violation amount for the schoolbus rule appears garbled in the source law.

Steeper fines for schoolbus passing

You must stop for a schoolbus with red lights or a stop arm. A first violation uses the set fee in the moving‑violation schedule. A second or later violation within five years is an infraction with a minimum $750 fine.

No quick process for serious driving

People charged with certain serious driving offenses cannot use the quick ticket process. The list includes DUI, reckless or aggravated reckless driving, hit‑and‑run, driving with a suspended or revoked license, causing a crash with emergency or highway crews in an unsafe vehicle, and a second schoolbus‑passing offense within five years. These charges must go through the regular court process instead.
