When you can break in to arrest

You may break a door or window to arrest someone for a felony you saw. You must first say who you are and why you are there, and be refused entry. You must also reasonably believe someone inside faces imminent serious injury or death. This only applies when state law already lets you make a private arrest for a felony committed in your presence. It covers any building where the person is, or where you reasonably believe they are.
