If you run a lodging business, you may give commission-approved training to onsite staff. You may record each year in a roster or personnel file that staff completed it. You may display a commission-approved poster with help contacts in the lobby, at check-in, or near guest services. If you or your staff report suspected trafficking in good faith, you are immune from civil lawsuits. Regulated professionals still may face discipline if a report breaks their ethics rules.
The attorney general establishes a Human Trafficking Commission. It includes state, local, tribal, nonprofits, victims, and others. The commission collects data and files a yearly report to the attorney general, governor, and legislature. It runs public awareness and training and presents to educators each year. It may accept grants and donations, and that money is continuously appropriated to the commission.
Within 90 days of this section taking effect, the commission establishes a training program. The training covers how to spot victims, common trafficking signs, and how to report to law enforcement. It uses existing materials when possible. Licensing boards and other regulators may accept this training for continuing education credit.
