Township inspections exempt, limited media notice

The law treats some township onsite inspections as exempt from open meeting rules. It applies when the board meets at a site to carry out a power under township law. It only applies if a township officer or staff cannot do the inspection, or the board is serving as the officers and staff. The board must make good‑faith efforts to notify any news outlet that asked in writing and gave a phone number. Notice must be by phone or the same method used to alert board members.
