New pathways to earn North Dakota scholarship

To get the North Dakota scholarship, you must finish at least two of three pathways while in grades 9–12: academic; career/technical education or world language; or military. Academic pathway: get ACT 24, SAT 1180, or a state test score of equal rigor, and complete at least two items like a C in AP, dual‑credit English or math, Algebra II, three fine arts courses, AP score 3, IB score 4, or a 3.0 GPA in core courses. Career/CTE or language pathway: earn 4 CTE units (including 2 from an approved plan) or 3 units of the same language; get a qualifying score (state‑approved, ACT 24, SAT 1180, or WorkKeys scores of 5 on three tests); and finish at least two career items such as a career‑ready course, a C in a dual‑credit course, an industry credential, or 40 hours of workplace or work‑based learning. Some alternate test options are allowed, including certain reading and math scores or ACT subscores if used for school accountability. Military pathway: score 50 on ASVAB, or score 31 plus complete basic training before graduation or within 90 days after and provide the certificate. You also need at least a C in physical education and two approved military courses or experiences (for example, two JROTC units or phase one of cadet civil air patrol). Approved innovative programs may use equivalent course‑proficiency scores where allowed by waiver.
