State tracks condition of school buildings

The Superintendent of Public Instruction collects building condition reports from every school district. Reports cover doors, windows, fire sprinklers and protection, heating and cooling, plumbing, electrical, security, and wheelchair access. Every four years, the state keeps an inventory with building type, year built, additions and years, and square footage. The state runs a system to track recommended construction, repairs, changes, and maintenance for each school. This creates one statewide record to plan safety and upkeep.
