Lower tax for new non-Bakken wells

Starting July 1, 2025, oil from certain new wells is taxed at 2% of its value at the well. The lower rate covers up to the first 125,000 barrels produced during the first 36 months after the well is completed. The well must be drilled and completed outside the Bakken and Three Forks formations and be at least 10 miles from a field whose pool includes those formations, as set by the Industrial Commission. The cut applies only to production that is taxable after June 30, 2025.
