Limits on police drones and robots

The law limits how police use drones and robots. Police cannot use them to issue or serve arrest warrants or a criminal summons in place of an arrest warrant. They cannot use them to take someone into custody, conduct hostage talks, or manage traffic. Police also cannot use them to gather evidence or watch public events without a warrant. Allowed uses include search and rescue, bomb disposal, and crime scene analysis. These rules apply to all law enforcement in North Dakota.
