The law funds North Dakota’s courts for July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2027. It provides $129.7 million total, including $128.3 million from the general fund, and supports 384 full-time positions. About $24.0 million goes to the Supreme Court, $104.3 million to district courts, and $1.4 million to the judicial conduct and discipline bodies. The money pays salaries, operations, and judges’ retirement so courts can serve the public.
The law lets the Supreme Court, district courts, and judicial conduct bodies spend any federal funds and private gifts they receive from July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2027. They must use that money only for the purposes set by the law or donor. The state budget office must also move money between the court budget lines in this act when the Supreme Court asks and says it is needed to carry out court duties.
