More drugs move to Schedule I

The law adds many drugs to Schedule I in North Dakota. It covers many opiates, hallucinogens, synthetic cannabinoids, and many fentanyl-like chemicals. It also includes fentanyl analogs made by certain chemical changes. FDA‑approved drugs and drugs already on another schedule are not added. Making, selling, prescribing, or possessing these drugs is illegal unless allowed under controlled‑substance rules.

New limits on Schedule III and IV drugs

The law updates which drugs are in Schedules III and IV. Schedule III now lists ketamine, buprenorphine, some stimulants and depressants, and many anabolic steroids. Some narcotic products count only under set limits, like codeine not over 1.80 grams per 100 milliliters or 90 mg per dose, and morphine not over 50 mg per 100 milliliters or per 100 grams. Schedule IV lists tramadol, many benzodiazepines and sleep drugs, certain stimulants, and limited narcotic mixes. The Board of Pharmacy can, by rule, except certain mixtures when additives remove abuse risk. COMP360 is covered only if the FDA approves it under that name. These rules guide who may make, sell, prescribe, and possess these medicines.
