Late reports or misuse cut city grants

If a city files late or uses the wrong format, it cannot get a grant for two years starting from the due date. If an audit finds the city spent grant money in a way that breaks this law, the Treasurer must cut future grants by the same dollar amount.

City grant reports every two years

Cities that get a municipal infrastructure fund grant and have at least 1,000 people must file a report. Beginning in 2022, it is due by November 30 of each even-numbered year. The report must show the amount received, the amount spent, and describe projects funded. The State Treasurer sets the report format and notifies cities by November 1 each even-numbered year. The Treasurer may grant up to a 15-day extension on request. The Treasurer posts the reports on the Treasurer’s website.
