Blackout license plates now available

North Dakota now offers blackout license plates. If you own a passenger car, a truck up to 20,000 pounds, or a motorcycle, you can request one. You must pay all normal registration fees, a $15 initial fee, and an extra fee each registration period. The plate is solid black with white letters and numbers. Other vehicle types are not eligible.
