One-time grants for rural grocery stores

The law sets aside $1,000,000 in one-time state funds. The Department of Commerce awards grants to preserve rural grocery stores and expand food access. Money is available from July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2027. The Department sets the rules and decides awards. Existing stores get priority over feasibility work for new or reopened stores, and funds cannot pay for food processing or off-site food preparation.
