State mails ballot guides to voters

The North Dakota Secretary of State must mail objective materials about each statewide ballot measure to every secured active voter. The mailing must arrive at least 45 days before any special, primary, or general election. The materials include a plain summary, the expected fiscal impact, whether it came from the legislature or a citizen petition, and what a yes or no vote means. Copies are also posted at all voting locations. The state provides $600,000 in one-time general fund money for July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2027 to create and send these materials.

Voter guide mailings end June 2027

This law is effective through June 30, 2027. After that date, the Secretary of State is no longer required to send or post these materials. The one-time $600,000 funding also ends on that date.
