Grades 4-12 learn trafficking prevention

The law requires every public, nonpublic, and tribal school to adopt a policy on human trafficking and exploitation education. The policy states that human trafficking includes sex trafficking. Schools must teach prevention and awareness to all students in grades 4 through 12 every year. Lessons must be age-appropriate, culturally sensitive, and based on evidence, and a nonprofit may provide them. Schools may partner with law enforcement, churches, family groups, and civic groups, and may offer optional workshops or materials to parents or guardians on personal safety and grooming prevention. For July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2027, the state provides $48,000 from the general fund to the Superintendent of Public Instruction to run this education.
