The law sets daily wages for named House and Senate jobs in the Sixty-ninth Legislative Assembly. Examples include $239 per day for the House Chief Clerk or the Secretary of the Senate, $213 per day for assistant clerks and calendar clerks, $228 per day for journal reporters, $190 per day for sergeants-at-arms, and $136 per day for pages. You are paid the listed rate only if you hold that position during this Assembly.
Each employee earns $1 more per day for every prior regular session worked at least 45 paid days, up to $10 extra per day. To receive it, you must certify to the Legislative Council the year of each qualifying session. The extra amount is added to your daily rate.
Each majority and minority leader is entitled to one administrative assistant and two staff assistants. A leader may hire fewer or more assistants as long as the total daily pay does not exceed the amount authorized for those positions.
With Employment Committee approval, a job may be converted to part-time, and the daily rate becomes an hourly rate. You may hold more than one part-time job if, together, they do not exceed a full-time equivalent. You get paid on recess days when you are required to attend hearings or other legislative business. Pay under this resolution ends on your last day if you resign, are discharged, or otherwise leave.
