2 provisions identified: 2 benefits, 0 costs, 0 mixed.
The law keeps nursing home care for long-term care clients with special needs out of managed care. These services are paid through fee-for-service or another allowed system. Providers do not have to join a managed care network to serve these clients. Managed care plans may still coordinate other benefits or give wraparound help, but they do not manage or take risk for the nursing care.
Through July 1, 2023, the law bars the Department from adding long-term care services to managed care. The pause covers nursing homes, assisted living, and home and community-based services. The Department must update managed care contracts and enrollment steps within six months after the law takes effect.
