High school classes for young inmates

The Department of Correctional Services offers high school classes to anyone in custody under 21 who lacks a diploma or GED. The department provides special education when state or federal law requires it. Classes match state minimum standards and include language arts, social science, science, and math. Programs can also include job training, computer, arts, and fitness, run by the department or partner schools. Classes are voluntary, except when needed to deliver services required by law. The State Board of Education can set rules to make sure programs meet state requirements.

Rehab, work, and no forced religion in prisons

The Director of Correctional Services sets up programs at each prison to help people return to the community. Facilities make school and job training, productive work, recreation, and therapy available to people who can benefit. Religious activities can be offered, but staff cannot force anyone to take part.
