The law shields private entities from class action lawsuits after a cybersecurity event. They remain liable in a class action only for willful, wanton, or gross negligence. A cybersecurity event means unauthorized access, misuse, or disruption of an information system or nonpublic data. This protects companies, nonprofits, and churches, but it can limit group remedies for people hurt by a breach.
