2 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 1 costs, 0 mixed.

Businesses cannot sell lab-grown meat

The law defines cultivated-protein foods as products that look like animal meat but come from animal cells grown in a lab. These foods are classified as adulterated. Businesses in Nebraska may not make, import, distribute, promote, display for sale, offer, attempt to sell, or sell them. Retailers, distributors, and marketers must stop these activities in the state.

Easier to sue over adulterated food

When a business breaks the food-adulteration ban, that act also counts as a deceptive trade practice. Violations of the adulteration ban are now listed under Nebraska’s deceptive trade law. Consumers and competitors can sue under that law to stop the conduct and seek relief.
