Foster care now needs state license

The law brings foster care under Nebraska’s Child Care Licensing Act. Foster parents and foster-care agencies must follow state child care licensing rules. You have to meet state requirements to operate. This adds paperwork and ongoing costs for foster caregivers and providers.

Military-base child care exempt from state license

The law exempts child care on military bases and other federal property from Nebraska’s state license. Family child care facilities licensed by the U.S. Department of Defense or the U.S. Coast Guard do not need a state child care license. This cuts state licensing paperwork for those providers and helps keep care available for military families.
