Legislature must approve new state park additions

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission cannot tell a local government it plans to add their land or facilities to the state park system unless the Legislature approves. When the Legislature is not in session, the Executive Board of the Legislative Council can approve. The commission must give an estimated fiscal impact with its request. The estimate must show what costs can be paid from cash funds and what would need General Fund money. An existing exception in state law (section 37-907) still applies.
