Starting January 1, 2023, Medicaid covers continuous glucose monitors when prescribed. On August 1, 2024, coverage expands to anyone who meets local coverage rules and to people with gestational diabetes. The state uses up to $600,000 a year from the Medicaid Managed Care Excess Profit Fund to implement the 2024 change, and any extra also comes from that fund.
By October 1, 2023, the state must ask to extend postpartum Medicaid from 60 days to at least six months; it may also ask for 12 months. Starting January 1, 2025, Medicaid covers an electric breast pump at 36 weeks or at birth; the pump must support milk supply, allow single or double pumping, and have 0–250 mmHg suction. Medicaid also covers at least ten lactation visits per mother or covered child, and the law states intent to raise pay for these visits by 145%. By October 1, 2025, the state must seek approval to add nurse home visiting case management for postpartum mothers and babies up to six months, funded from the Medicaid Managed Care Excess Profit Fund to get federal match. Starting January 1, 2027, Medicaid covers self-measured blood pressure monitoring for pregnant and postpartum women, including training, separate readings, daily collection, and sending data to a provider.
Starting January 1, 2024, Medicaid covers and pays for needed translation and interpretation during your medical visits. The state seeks the highest possible federal match and uses the Medicaid Managed Care Excess Profit Fund to help pay.
By October 1, 2025, the state must ask to add two medical respite centers for homeless adults in the Medicaid expansion group. One center must be in a metropolitan-class city and one in a primary-class city. Services use the Medicaid Managed Care Excess Profit Fund, and the state reports each year by November 30 on people served, costs, and savings.
Starting January 1, 2026, Medicaid covers psychology services by advanced trainees who finished a doctoral internship or a postdoctoral fellowship. They must work under the supervision of a licensed psychologist.
