Faster, clearer Certificate of Need renewals

A new or modified Certificate of Need is valid for three years from the date it is issued. At expiration, holders can get up to one extra year if they show they are meeting the project timetable or making a good‑faith effort. The Department must send written notice of its renewal decision within 30 days after it receives a renewal application. The renewal decision is the Department’s final decision for appeals; if no appeal is filed, it is final on the date issued.
