No fingerprints for temporary appointments

If you are a temporary guardian or conservator, you do not need to give fingerprints or get the national criminal history report. You still must file any other reports the court requires. Other guardianship and conservatorship rules still apply.

Stronger checks before guardians, conservators named

The law requires most people nominated as a guardian or conservator to get a national criminal history check. You must be fingerprinted and pay the actual cost. You must file the report at least 10 days before the hearing, unless the court waives the timing for good cause or at the protected person’s request for an expedited hearing. A judge will not sign the appointment order until the report is filed and reviewed. Emergency temporary appointments do not need this report.
