Attorneys can use unsworn declarations

The law lets attorneys file unsworn, written declarations under penalty of perjury instead of sworn affidavits. This applies when the attorney's signature is required for a client's case filings. It does not apply to depositions, oaths of office, or oaths before specified officials other than a notary. The declaration must be written, signed by the attorney, dated, and state that it is true. Required wording differs for papers signed in Nebraska versus outside Nebraska. Unsworn declarations have the same legal effect as sworn statements.
