Grants for child care in nursing and assisted-living homes

The law creates the Intergenerational Care Facility Incentive Grant Program. The state health department runs it and sets application, eligibility, and audit rules with nursing home groups. The department meets with these groups by October 1, 2024 to find barriers and suggest safe fixes. The program provides $300,000 in fiscal year 2024–25. A facility can get a one-time grant up to $100,000 to add or expand child care. Money can pay for building changes, outdoor space, and child care equipment and supplies. Grants are given by application date. Same‑day ties go to rural communities.

Grant eligibility and quality rules for facilities

Only nursing homes or assisted‑living facilities that are certified for Medicare or Medicaid can apply. A facility is ineligible if its most recent survey found substandard care. Each facility can receive only one grant under this law. If a facility gets a grant, it must have a plan to join the state’s Quality Rating and Improvement System within three years. The facility does not have to own or run the child care itself.
