Nebraska study on missing Black women and kids
The law requires the Nebraska State Patrol to study how to improve reporting and investigations of missing Black women and children. The Patrol works with the Commission on African American Affairs to bring together state and local police, federal agencies, and urban community groups. The Patrol also coordinates with the U.S. Department of Justice to share information and align resources. By June 1, 2027, the Patrol must send an electronic report to the Executive Board of the Legislative Council. The report includes counts, barriers to state resources, and recommendations, including any proposed new laws.
