Beginning January 1, 2027, most Nebraska health insurance plans must cover treatment for children with PANDAS or PANS. Coverage applies when a licensed doctor recommends it. Plans must cover antibiotics, medicines and behavioral therapy for symptoms, plasma exchange, and immunoglobulin. The rule applies to individual and group policies delivered, issued, or renewed in Nebraska. It does not apply to specified-disease or other limited-benefit policies. Self-funded employer plans are covered only when federal law does not preempt state rules.
