The Nebraska State Patrol now runs the Financial Fraud Victims' Reimbursement Fund and sets the application forms. If you lost money to a covered financial transaction offense, you can apply. The Patrol decides if your loss qualifies and how much to pay. You can get money only from assets seized in the specific case that harmed you; if money is short, payments are pro rata by loss amount. Money stays in the fund until the later of 36 months after transfer or until related applications filed in that 36-month window are resolved. After that, leftover money goes to the State Treasurer under the Nebraska Constitution, and the state investment officer invests any available fund money.
