Grants to remove riverside weeds

The law creates a state grant program to remove riverside vegetation that blocks stream flow. Grants can also buy equipment used for this work. Eligible applicants are weed management entities, local weed control authorities, and natural resources districts that serve a river basin. The Department of Water, Energy, and Environment runs the program and must release the application form by January 1, 2027. The department may prioritize projects in river basins covered by interstate compacts or court decrees. The Water Resources Cash Fund can pay for these grants.
