State dementia coordinator to help families

The Department of Health and Human Services appoints a statewide dementia services coordinator. The coordinator helps families caring for someone with Alzheimer’s or other dementia find services, safe care settings, and support. They provide information, counseling, education, and referrals. They track dementia’s impact in Nebraska, assess needs, and improve coordination across agencies. They guide the state plan, suggest policy and funding changes, create dementia training, and bring community partners together.

Old dementia law section repealed

The law repeals section 71-561 and folds it into the Alzheimer’s Disease and Other Dementia Support Act. This cleans up and consolidates state code. Any practical effects depend on what the old section required; none are specified here.
