Retailers can sell uninspected game meat
Beginning June 30, 2025, retailers can buy and resell uninspected bison, elk, and red deer from producers. You must clearly label these products with: "This product was slaughtered at the farm and is exempt from state and federal inspection." Keep each purchase receipt for at least 90 days. The receipt must list the product, purchase date, producer’s name, the farm’s name and address, and a phone number.
Delays sections of a 2023 law
This law takes effect June 30, 2025. It also delays sections 7–10 of a 2023 law that were tied to July 1, 2025. Those sections do not take effect on July 1, 2025.
