Higher registration costs for visiting off-road riders

Beginning May 1, 2027, New Hampshire ends its $34 temporary registration option for nonresident off-highway recreational vehicle riders. These riders must instead pay full nonresident registration fees. Current fees are $61 or $70 for two-wheel trail bikes and $91 or $100 for other vehicles, depending on club membership. Full registrations direct $30.90 to Fish and Game and $17.10 to the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources for administration. The latter department also receives $13 or $22 for trail-bike grants, or $43 or $52 for other vehicle grants.

Special off-road enforcement funding authority ends

Beginning May 1, 2027, the law removes a specific funding authority for New Hampshire Fish and Game. It allowed up to $25,000 every two years for work with local police on off-highway vehicle enforcement. That authority covered areas where riding on public roads is allowed. The fiscal note expects no change to revenue transfers or the agencies' ability to work together.
