Beginning January 1, 2027, covered New Mexico driver-education courses must include at least three hours of road-sharing education and training. This includes approved school-based driver and motorcycle courses, plus driver-education programs subject to bureau standards. Training covers sharing the road with pedestrians, including roadside workers and emergency workers, and people riding or leading animals. It also covers users of bicycles, farm vehicles, scooters, motorcycles, wheelchairs, and similar transportation without a protective shell. The law provides no direct household payment.
