More time to put transportation tax on ballot

The law extends the window to pursue a transportation sales tax measure through December 31, 2028. A regional transportation commission can send recommendations to the county board until that date. Recommendations must list the proposed tax rate, how long it would run, and the type and location of projects. The county board may put the question on the next general election ballot held by December 31, 2028, but only once. This law does not itself create a tax; voters must approve it first.
